Is there a bridge for connecting QDBC to an application over the network via tcp/ip (windows to linux).?
We have QB (2006) and QODBC running on a windows machine and a OrderEntry app running on Linux (remote) using php (a Linux Apache Mysql Php, LAMP, application). I wanted php (on Linux) to connect to QODBC (using IP and port). I would use the ODBC support aleady in php to conntect to QOCBC. However, it appears I need a "bridge" of some sort to run on windows which will provide the network connectivity for QODBC. I'm assuming this already exists somewhere.
Ibiz provides a similar "bridge" but allowing a windows PC running QODBC to connect to a QB running on another windows pc (via tcp/ip). In my case I have QB and QODBC running on the same windows machine and need to connect QODBC to phpODBC (on linux). Where ibiz provides a (non-processing) bridge between QB and QODBC across tcp/ip, I need a "bridge" between the Application (running on Linux/PHP) and QODBC.
If I cannot solve this, I may resort to running a local app (VBdemo-like) which would not be interactive the way I want.
Alternatively I could install php/apache onto the QB windows machine and have it connect to the linx (using mysqlODBC) and also connect to the then local QODBC. But that's a lot more "install" and "code" and mysql across the net...undesirable.
Thanks for the help. |
