We have set up the remote data connector and are trying to access that from another client. We set up a username/password and when we test the connection the prompt to enter username/password appears again but does not accespt the credentials. On the RDC side we get an error as below:

[4/16/2007 1:14:05 PM] IBizQB Remote Connector Started.
[4/16/2007 1:15:38 PM - 10.12.111.125] Client has connected.
[4/16/2007 1:15:39 PM - 10.12.111.125] Error: 605: Could not determine the QuickBooks data file version.

The trace files reveal the following information:

The easist way to setup the Remote Connector is to first configure the connection on the computer with QuickBooks on it. The company file is normally a local file on Drive C: and you should use the "admin" account to first establish a connection. Once everything is on the host computer, simply copy the setting to the client machines. You can then configure user accounts if you wish.

See: I do not want to install QuickBooks on every machine. How do I setup QODBC Remote? for more.
